As part of our learning about Leadership we have been finding out about Martin Luther King Jr. Today Ms D divided the class in to tall people and short people. To begin with the short people were treated better than the tall people. They were the First Class Citizens. Then we swapped over. We had to write our thoughts on this. Here are some of the thoughts people had.
"I think the whole experiment was cool because we got to know a little bit about what it was like when MLK was around" - Regan
"When my group was treated better we always got the best of everything - I wouldn't like that in real life" - Lauren
"I think the whole thing was very bad because short people got to do better things than tall people" - Jessica.
"I liked being a first class citizen because we got all the privileges and made decisions. I enjoyed being a second class citizen because I liked the suspense of waiting for the tall people to choose what we were doing. I disliked being called a short person, or in a group, short people." - Ash.
"I thought it was nice because we got to choose if we wanted the others to play or not" - Tui
"First class was dreadful, horrible, because the second class citizens weren't treated nicely, it was unfair!" - Richard
"When I was second class I thought it was pretty good, because I like being told what to do, it's how my brain works" - Gabrielle
"I thought the whole thing was not a good idea because it was very unfair" - Hannah G.
" I hated second class! It was unfair because the tall people got to eat first and I was hungry!!" - Jane
"When I was second class I liked it more - because I didn't have to do as much" - James
"I didn't like being second class because we had to share a computer" - Martha
"It was better to be first class - we got the privilege to choose things" - Toko
"I liked being in charge of the tall children - the second class students" - Hannah M
"When I was a first class student I felt that feeling of power. When I was a second class student it was horrid. The first class students could tell me what to do." - Nick
"When I was a first class citizen I liked bossing the others around". - Lucas
"Being first class was fun, we got to choose where we sat, what games we played, everything was awesome. When the tallies were protesting I thought it was a bit unfair, but I didn't show it. When I was second class it was OK but I can't imagine living like that." - Jasmine
"Being a second class citizen was not that fun' - Amelia
" It was fun when we had the privileges" - Stella K
'What I liked about being a first class student was that we got to choose what to play and I felt happy" - Dev
"I liked being a first class citizen because we were kind of the boss!" - Ibanez
"First Class...when I was a first class citizen I felt a bit... weird. I felt happy at first when me and the others were given control....but I seemed to feel sorry for them at the same time. Second Class....I felt quite angry when the firsts were changed to seconds. I got tired of being bossed around. It was sad to know that the firsts might not involve us in their game. I guess that's what it feels like when you're a second class citizen." - Annie
"What I liked about being a first class citizen was having a say in what we did" - Holly
"I liked being a second class citizen and being told what to do" - Cameron
" I hated the whole thing! I hated being first class and making decisions - it was hard choosing what to do all the time. We got all the good stuff - it was hard seeing the others with things not as good as ours. The thing that made me the most mad was being treated better than them. it was not FAIR!!!' - Stella M
"I think the whole experiment was a disaster because it caused everyone to think they were better or they were worse." - Cadence
