The Importance Of The Waka.

Today we learned more about the importance of the class waka.
A person called Ray Ahipene Mercer, who is a kaumatua and works for the Wellington City Council, came to talk to us about the wonderful waka.
We talked about the different waka.
We talked about the Maori legends and how special they are.
Then Danny, a newspaper reporter came to talk about the waka too.
After that, we went to the staffroom and we looked at the new staff waka.
We all held the waka and Danny took some photos.
We think we learned a lot about our waka and how important and special they are.
We think that it was a great learning experience about our amazing community.
